Moon Township Residents

The Moon Township Board of Supervisors has passed a Resident-Only Parking Ordinance for Greenlea, Centerdale and Crosstree Dr. This ordinance was passed to provide safe passage of the noted roadways in anticipation of increased off-campus parking from students at Robert Morris University.

This ordinance is very limited in its scope. It restricts parking to residents only Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. If you do not need to park on the street between the noted days and times, you do not need to apply for a parking permit.

Each resident has been issued two visitor parking permits; a third visitor permit may be issued upon request. They may be used for a visitor to your home or for one of your own vehicles. Sale or lease of any permit is strictly prohibited. Permits are not required for service vendors such as lawn services and utility providers while actually engaged in work in the neighborhood. Contact the Chief of Police or Township Manager if you have need of greater visitor parking for a special event at your home during the noted days and times.

If you have a need to park on the street between the noted days and times and want a specific resident permit, ( one per vehicle of a resident owner) you may apply on line at: www.moonpolice.us or you may contact the Chief of Police at 412-262-5000 or chiefmccarthy@moonpolice.us. The permits are free. An effort has been made to make this new process easy and at no cost to you. We hope that this will help to insure neighborhood safety and maintain U.S. Mail delivery. Because of many complaints by residents of drivers speeding and failing to stop at stop signs, please be aware that extra enforcement efforts have been planned. Please do not hesitate to contact me with your thoughts or concerns.

Respectfully yours,

Leo P. McCarthy, M.A.

Chief of Police
